Waste & Environmental
Landfills, transfer stations, and industrial waste operations run some of the toughest duty iron ever sees. This guide covers the machines that do the work and how operations keep them running.

Waste never stops arriving. Landfills compact and cover on a daily clock, transfer stations turn trailers around all shift, and industrial waste operations move material that punishes everything it touches. The machines carrying that load work in conditions that shorten component life across the board, which is why uptime discipline separates the operations that run smoothly from the ones that fight fires. This guide covers the equipment classes waste operations run and what waste duty does to them.
Bulk Equipment Corp is an 80 year old, brand-independent heavy equipment uptime partner headquartered in Michigan City, Indiana, with a shop in Memphis, Tennessee. Bulk supplies, rents, rebuilds, and services the equipment behind public and private landfills, transfer stations, and industrial waste applications, on any brand of machine.
What We DoWhat Does Bulk Actually Do on the Fill?
Real machines on real waste duty. This is what we service, rebuild, rent, and source for landfills and transfer stations.

Landfill Compactors
Density is the business
Compactors drive specialized teeth into the fill to protect airspace, and we keep them running with brand-independent service and rebuilds regardless of OEM.

Dozers on Daily Cover
A compliance machine, not just a dirt machine
Dozers spread the six inches of daily cover federal Subtitle D standards require, so a down dozer is a regulatory problem. We keep cover fleets available.

Articulated Haulers
Soft ground, slopes, and weather
Articulated haul trucks move cover soil and material across ground that stops rigid trucks. We service and rebuild them any-brand.

Material Handlers
Transfer station sorting and loading
Material handlers on grapples sort and load at transfer stations and processing operations. We are an authorized Sennebogen service provider.

Field Service
Machine down on the fill? We are already rolling.
Brand-independent techs from four regional hotlines work on compactors, dozers, haulers, and handlers of any OEM, backed by rebuilds and fabrication.

AnswersFrequently Asked Questions
What equipment does a landfill need?
The core fleet is a landfill compactor for density, a dozer for spreading and daily cover, and articulated haul trucks for cover soil and material moves. Transfer stations add material handlers and loaders for sorting and trailer loading.
Why do landfills use compactors instead of dozers alone?
Compaction is the economics of a landfill. Specialized compactor teeth concentrate ground pressure to drive waste density up, which preserves airspace, and airspace is the asset a landfill sells. Dozers shape and cover, but they cannot match a compactor’s density.
What is daily cover and why does it matter?
Federal Subtitle D standards require solid waste in landfills to be covered with six inches of earthen material at the end of each working day. That makes the dozer and haul truck fleet a compliance requirement, and downtime on cover equipment a regulatory risk.
How much does waste handling equipment cost?
Cost depends on machine class and configuration. For lift trucks, the heavy-capacity forklift guide publishes what drives cost in the class, and Bulk quotes compactors, dozers, and handlers to the specific application.
Can Bulk service waste equipment it did not sell?
Yes. Bulk’s field service is brand-independent: any OEM’s compactor, dozer, hauler, or handler, whether Bulk sold it or not, with techs dispatched from regional hotlines and full rebuild capability in-house.
